Squirrel mine

The squirrel mine is located in the paleontological zone of Fumanya.

The interest in this area today is more geological and paleontological than mining as the mine is closed. Understanding the geological evolution of this area is key to understand why dinosaur remains have been found in the paleontological sites of Fumanya, as well as why coal layers were formed.

During the 20th century, about twenty mines were exploited in this small strip of land.
