Pedalling the Berguedà is a pleasure with infinite possibilities that go far beyond the mountain terrain. Because, yes, it's true, there is a lot of mountain in Berguedà, but also affordable routes with little elevation gain and, even, outings to do with the family. There are green ways where you can learn to pedal, unexplored corners, large mountain passes, paths full of flow and landscape jewels. And above all, the tranquillity of the natural surroundings of Berguedà that offers cyclists the most precious asset when they go out cycling: safety.
And the fact is that every day local cyclists but also those from other areas who are looking for an ideal setting travel the Berguedà. The roads are quiet, almost deserted of motorized traffic and with good quality asphalt. The most demanding have twenty mountain passes at their disposal, ranging from short and hard climbs, through long and sustained climbs, and up to special category passes such as Pradell, Rasos de Peguera, Coll de Pal and La Creueta. The routes, many of them circular, cross through different towns where you can get food.
But without a doubt, in Berguedà there is also room for more modern modalities such as gravel, with countless rural tracks, softer in the south of the region and more demanding in the north. The various mountain ranges, such as the Catllaràs, offer trails where you can enjoy high-quality endure, and the various cycling clubs in the region have worked to open new mountain bike routes that have been maintained over the years.
Berguedà’s cycling space is reflected in a wide spread. And you can also complete long bike packing routes in different stages or, on the contrary, spend the day pedalling with the family to discover ancient trees, Romanesque hermitages, lakes or suspension bridges.
The challenge is as big as it is exciting, a mixture of effort and fun, of physically demanding training and discovering the historical, landscape and social heritage of the region. And the fact is that Berguedà offers mountains for cycling.
