The waters of Pedraforca

Murcarols waterfall

The Murcurols stream, a tributary of the headwaters of the Bastareny, whose waters come from the Coll de Bauma area, descends from a height of 25 meters in the middle of a spectacular formation of coarse. It is a dark spot, closed up, so in the middle of winter it is easy to see the jump completely frozen.

Further down the Murcurols jump, the channel is permeable and the water table is deep so the water infiltrates and disappears from the surface. The underground stream reappears on the surface of the river a few hundred meters below, before joining the Bastareny river, when it encounters marshy and impermeable levels.
