The waters of Pedraforca

Bastareny river

The Bastareny river hides a myriad of almost secret fountains and streams, with remarkable attractiveness. It is born in the Dou del Bastareny, in the municipality of Gisclareny and not far from Bagà, a place of great natural beauty more than a thousand meters above sea level. The river appears suddenly from a large wall of rocks, where it springs tightly, surrounded by trees, bushes and moss, forming a postcard image. Around it are natural spillways like the Bullidor of Sant Esteve or the Bullidor of the Milk.

The Bastareny gathers the water of two valleys and ends at the Llobregat around Guardiola. Although not considered an important river, it does have a long way to form several places of great charm. He is the son of the Cadí Range and, in fact, the Bastareny-Natural Park Cadí Moixeró binomial is inseparable. The waters of the mountain range are appearing and disappearing in one of the largest natural areas in Catalonia. The Cadí Moixeró, in the middle of the Pre-Pyrenees, covers several mountain ranges and massifs - Cadí, Moixeró,Pedraforca and part of Tosa d'Alp and Puigllançada - and is located on horseback in three regions: Berguedà, Cerdanya and Alt Urgell. The highest mountain in the Park is the Puig de la Canal Baridana (or Vulturó) of 2648 meters.

In several sections of the river the fishing is authorized as long as the corresponding licenses and permits are available.
