Routes and network of footpaths

A Sorba per les rieres de Gargallà i l'Aigua d'Ora

Sorba is a small village on the left bank of the Aiguadora River, 8 km from Montmajor. This route proposes to cross the calm and rural surroundings that it offers, approaching its streams. Leaving the outstanding church of Santa Maria, a circular itinerary between fields and groves to find the Gargallà stream, and follow it until it ends at Aiguadora, and then return along the path upstream to Sorba.

Description
The itinerary begins at the crossroads in front of the cemetery where you need to go to the church and the rectory. The church of Santa Maria de Sorba is part of a homogeneous complex with the rectory house. Of medieval origin (6th century), the current church (17th century) was built using part of the southern wall of the old Romanesque church (10th and 11th centuries). The oldest of the whole is, however, the Eudald's Martyrium (1st-8th centuries), a central building where the remains of a martyr are worshiped, typical of paleo-Christian art.

From the church the track continues to Cal Teuler and until the road, which crosses to continue along the paved rural road in front of you a few meters, at the next junction you will leave it to continue along the track on the right that will take you to the nucleus that form Cal Cavaller, cal Gili and ca l'Estruc. Continue on the track and you will leave this small nucleus passing between the fields of cultivation and the wood of pine, which will be the tone of this itinerary. At the next junction of tracks, you must continue to the right south and always following the main one you will come to a new junction of tracks and paths where you must also continue to the right south, about 100m, then leave it and turn left into the house of La Cabana. You will pass between the house and the cutlery, and continue along the main track until you reach the Gargallà stream, which will accompany you downstream until you reach the Aiguadora stream. Shortly after crossing the creek for the first time, you will find the junction with the road that comes from Gargallà (another village to the northwest). Keep going down through the pleasant setting of riverside forest and shortly before crossing the stream for the fourth time, you will see the Toll de la Quimassa, one of the largest gorges in the area in wet times.

Once you reach the stream of the Aiguadora, cross it and here if you are, you can trim the track on the right path. From here you will find some paths that go down to the creek, in the area known as the Dolls de l'Aigua de Ora, where it is making small puddles. Rediscover the track and after following it a few meters up, connect with the track of the Molí Nou, which you also have to follow to the right, to the north, already higher up the stream. After enjoying this flat promenade you will reach the main road where you have to follow right towards Sorba, and then you will see the church of Santa Maria, the end of the route.
