Sagàs is still one of those territories drawn and preserved thanks to the peasantry that lives there, able to keep its balance in these times of rush and sliding. This itinerary begins in the small village that surrounds the church of Sant Andreu de Sagàs, and proposes to cross the small hills in the northern part of the municipality, making use of the well-preserved sections of those old traditional paths, as well as some tracks. more modern. Throughout the route you will pass through several farmhouses, cereal fields - which transform the landscape according to the time of year -, pine groves and small holm oaks, large slabs protruding and delimiting the stretches of fertile soil, balmes, some fountain, torrents and finally a small hermitage dedicated to Sant Jordi. In conclusion an itinerary of little difficulty, calm and well varied.

Description
The starting point of this route is the church of Sant Andreu de Sagàs, at the shelter of which a small nucleus was formed, originating from the village of Sagàs. This church already mentioned in 1065, has a prominent building inscribed in the cultural and artistic heritage of Catalonia, which puts into play the constructive forms of the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Modified from the 17th century, it was later restored to regain its primitive appearance. It is a building with a basilical floor plan, with three naves topped by three semicircular apses and separated by arches on pillars. This construction, infrequent in Catalonia (however quite common in northern Italy, for example), makes Sant Andreu de Sagàs a very unique example of 11th-century Catalan architecture.

  The itinerary starts in front of the church, following the GR 4 signs in the direction of La Quar, passing behind the church, the cemetery and reaching the road. Once here, leave the GR markings and follow the yellow ones on the Berguedà road network that will accompany you the first half of the path. Continue on the forest trail to the east. You will slowly descend between fields of grain and forest clippings, as well as some slab area that you will soon get used to.

Always following the main track, you will arrive at Gavarrós Nou, a large farmhouse from the s. XVII, located on the precipice of the Regatell. You turn around, past its walls, and go down the old path, shortening the track. After a pretty sharp bend, continue on the left. An old horseshoe road at the foot of the stream, passing through the Font de l'Andreuet and the pool of the Basil. Once in the stream of Regatell, one of the tributaries of the Merlès stream, you have to cross it and climb until you find, soon, a secondary track that you will continue downstream. On this section of the road you can see some of the tall caves that had been inhabited in ancient times. Once you cross the stream again, you will find a track of more entity that descends from Castellón, follow it a few meters to the right until a closed bend where you have to continue on the straight path to the south passing the margin of the small cultivated field. Follow this old path that runs along this slope, through a rocky and rough terrain, where the vegetation still has difficulty coping with the major fires that this area suffered in 1994. After a small turn you will come to a hill where you will find again a clue. Follow it to the left until you reach the ridge of a field. Here you follow the path on the left, which will take you to the road marked GR 1, and follow it westwards in the forest until you will come to a track that you have to follow. the left. Again you will alternate the landscape of planted and forest until you reach the house of the Pla de la Creu.

Once at the house, you will come to the road that comes from Merlès marked GR 4. Follow the straight path upwards and then again into a wooded area, here with strong oak. You will pass a well of the s. XVII built on a large slab, and now occupies rural tourism. Further on you will find the Fountain of the Well and immediately afterwards, the small church of Sant Jordi built in the s. XVI and that was reformed in the s. XVIII by the family of the neighboring house of the Well, who used it as a family chapel. You will soon be on the road that you have to follow a few meters to the right and you will find the stairs that will take you back to the center of Sant Andreu de Sagàs, the end point of the itinerary.
