Routes and network of footpaths

From Castellar de N'Hug to Coll de la Creueta

The situation of Castellar de n'Hug has marked its history and the change of uses according to the time. Despite having some nice hills and fertile lands, located at an altitude of almost 1400 m, and with much more rugged terrain, it is not a place to live in. Broadly speaking, it is possible to place the southern part of the forestry and agriculture and the northern part where the alpine meadows occupy the largest area, and where the livestock farming occupies the summer. This itinerary aims to cross the northern part, returning to the Fonts del Llobregat, in order not to miss one of the spectacular attractions that houses these lands, the birth of the Llobregat river.

Description
The route starts in front of the town hall of Castellar de n'Hug, following the Camí de la Coll de la Creueta by the Erola, you will pass in front of the hostel La Closa, where you have to continue climbing the main track and then the path that shortens to. climb to the houses of the Ribera. A path between beams will continue to climb you doing the typical roundabouts of the mountain paths, until the houses of the Erola. From here you must continue along the main track that will leave the houses behind, always heading north. You will pass by a pond and you will reach the Font dels Torrents. Here you have to leave the track and take the path on the left towards the Cave of the Tuta. A cave with a dry stone wall and even a wooden door, for many years was a litter for the night.
The path passes in front of the cave and continues climbing. This whole area is filled with remains of dry stone walls that modulated the terrain into beams for cultivation. You will come to a track but you will not follow it, continue along the path below, entering a slightly wooded area, always up. Cross the Argelagosa stream and go for a pass on Roc del Batlle. As you gain height the views become more impressive. You will go around the gorge until you find the Font del Boix that goes under the rock. Here the path goes uphill and you have to be careful not to be confused with some of the livestock that cross the stream; always keep going up on the left bank of the stream which takes the name of the fountain; to a certain height of it. The slope will sharpen until you see the road approaching you. You will go right out to the Coll de la Creueta, a good place to take a break as almost everything you have left will be lowered. Before you can even follow the road to the west to look north.
When you want to get back on track, you will stop on the track that goes south, and it will soon turn west. A very flat track that winds the ripples that make the terrain here, bordering the small hills. After a kilometer you will find another track on the left, follow it for a short time and begin the long descent, steeper from the Collada del Tossal. You will see a few meters away, the old plain or the Orriols plain, and continue downhill following the great esses that make the track here, to soften the slope. On one of the turns, you will pass near the Torrent de l'Avellanosa and the Font Peguera, where you can cool off. Here is a shady stretch in the forest to Cal Sol Sol, from where it reopens, where you will again see the dry stone walls delimiting small beams formerly cultivated.
When you arrive in Orriols you will see a large renovated farmhouse dating from the 11th century. XVII-XVII. It is already documented but since 1342, and was for years one of the important farmhouses in the area; there are those who argue that the castle of Castellar was here. It currently houses a Colonial home. Continuing along the track you come to the Molí d'Orrols, the first to work the waters of the Llobregat. At this same point the path of the springs that you have to follow upstream begins. A well-aligned path, delimited by a wooden railing in many sections, with a series of information panels with data on the Llobregat, some banks, etc ... beginning of the Camí del Llobregat (GR 270) that runs along the river from here to its mouth at sea, in the Prat de Llobregat.
You will immediately see the water intake from the canalization of the old Asland Cement factory in Clot del Moro, some kilometers downstream, and which was started by Eusebi Güell in the early s. XX, being the first plant dedicated to the production of portland cement in the Iberian Peninsula, today converted in part, into the Cement Museum.
