Road byke circular routes

La Ripollesa

Another cycling classic in the region is go to Ripoll. On this occasion we will join the capital of Berguedà with that of Ripollès by the fastest route, the C-26 road.

We return thru secondary roads that will allow us to get to know the Catllaràs mountain range, a natural space of great value that acts as a partition between the two pre-Pyrenean regions and the small towns that are scattered throughout these valleys and mountains.

Description

The route starts at the car park that we will find at the entrance to Berga sud, at the bottom of Passeig de la Pau, at an altitude of 661 metres. We will leave in the direction of the Passeig that we will continue up to turn right on Gran Via street and then immediately turn left on Barcelona street until we turn right again when we reach Ronda Moreta, the Ribes road and take the road C-1411z to the Santa Magdalena pass.

After passing the pass we will follow the old Cercs road (C-1411a) for a few meters as we will soon follow the main road BP-4654 until we cross the C-16 below. Once we cross this main road we will start the descent that will take us to the Baells reservoir following the C-26 in the direction of Vilada i Ripoll.

After the reservoir, a gentle and steady climb begins until Vilada. We will pass Vilada to follow the Mergancol stream - we have it on the right - until Borredà alternating flat with small ups and downs, but with a tendency to pull up.

We continue along the C-26 in the direction of Ripoll-Les Llosses and a couple of kilometers further on we will find a fork that we will follow on the left, in the direction of Les Llosses Ripoll. A very rolling road will take us to the Ter river and to find the C-17 which we will follow to the left until we reach the capital, Ripoll,  where we can make a stop to regain strength.

We continue north on the same road (or through the village, in case we have decided to stop there) until Campdevànol where we will turn left on the GI 401 in the direction of Gombrèn. Here we start the climb that will take us to the Merolla pass in about 15 km which we will face without too much difficulty

Once at the pass, we will start the descent until we almost reach La Pobla de Lillet. Just before you find Masia Sarga (a rural tourism house on the right), you need to pay attention as there is a road on the left that indicates Sant Jaume de Frontanyà that you will need to take to go up the Batallola pass, the last ascent of the day

After passing the pass, we start a descent that will take us to Borredà passing through Sant Jaume. In Borredà, we must take the C-26 to the right to return to Berga, undoing the section we had taken at the beginning of the itinerary.
